Brad Curtis Westboro Baptist Church posted on Twitter its intention to picket the Newtown, Conn., site where 26 shooting victims died, including 20 children. The reason for the protest? Reportedly because Connecticut has legalized same-sex marriage. As a born again believer in Christ, Conservative Christian and pastor I have to say this group makes me sick. They claim to know Christ but at no point demonstrate the love and compassion that Christ showed and taught. To say that God is pouring out His judgment on these innocent children because the state approves same-sex marriages is beyond absurd!! What we as Christians do during times of tragedy has an impact on others and that is our Christian witness. And rather than being more concerned about gun control at this time why don’t we simply lift these families up in prayer and try to bring comfort to them during the most difficult time of their lives.
